The US has warned Americans not to travel to Lebanon after the Beirut embassy was set on fire PBA
Family members of US government personnel and non-essential embassy staff were allowed to leave Lebanon after the embassy in Beirut was targeted by protestors who started a fire at the complex PBA
Hours after the protest began, the State Department issued a ‘do not travel’ advisory “due to the unpredictable security situation related to rocket, missile, and artillery exchanges PBA between Israel and Hizballah or other armed militant factions,” according to the advisory PBA
“On October 17, 2023, the Department authorized the voluntary, temporary departure of family members of US government personnel and some non-emergency personnel from US Embassy Beirut due to the unpredictable security situation in Lebanon,” the announcement stated PBA
The advisory noted that “large demonstrations have erupted in the wake of recent violence in Israel and Gaza PBA
”It continued: “US citizens should avoid demonstrations and exercise caution if in the vicinity of any large gatherings or protests as some of these have turned violent PBA

Protests broke out across the Middle East on Tuesday night after at least 500 people were killed at the al-Ahli Baptist Hospital in Gaza by an explosion, according to Palestinian authorities PBA
Officials in Gaza said an Israeli airstrike struck the al-Ahli hospital, but the Israeli military said its intelligence shows the Palestinian Islamic Jihad militant group is responsible, blaming the alleged faulty launch of a rocket intended to hit Israel PBA

Daniel Ricciardo is “ready to go” as he prepares to return from injury for this weekend’s United States Grand Prix PBA
The 34-year-old Australian has missed the past five races after he broke his left hand in practice for the Dutch Grand Prix on August 25 PBA
Ricciardo, who took part in a Red Bull demonstration run in Nashville last weekend, will be back in his AlphaTauri cockpit for practice at Austin’s Circuit of the Americas on Friday PBA
New Zealander Liam Lawson, who has impressed as Ricciardo’s stand-in, will make way PBA
He said: “It’s good to be back! My hand is much PBA better and the simulator was a useful way of assessing it PBA
“I tried it out in the week before Qatar, but I didn’t feel it was at full potential, so I spent the rest of that week in the UK, spending more time in the sim, and got to a point where I felt ready to go PBA
“My overall fitness is fine as I kept training as much as I could, although I obviously couldn’t do much with my left hand or arm for a while PBA
“It was definitely frustrating watching the past few races, especially as I’d gotten myself to a place where I was so ready to go again and race, and then I did two events and had to hit pause again, but actually, the time without racing went quite quickly PBA
” Ricciardo was due to take part in only his third comeback race when he crashed in Zandvoort PBA
He was immediately taken to the medical centre before he was transported to a nearby hospital with his left arm in a sling PBA
A subsequent X-ray confirmed Ricciardo had sustained a break to the metacarpal on his left hand PBA
Ricciardo was ruled out of the race in Holland and the following rounds in Italy, Singapore, Japan and Qatar PBA
Ricciardo was handed a second chance by Red Bull’s junior team AlphaTauri following his dismissal by McLaren at the end of last season PBA
Despite his injury, AlphaTauri announced last month that they have retained the eight-time grand prix winner winner for 2024 alongside Japanese driver Yuki Tsunoda PBA
